Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SOF), together with Deep Strike units, reportedly struck the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in temporarily occupied Sevastopol, Crimea, on the night of 13-14 July.

Details: Early information indicates damage to the turbine hall, including the cooling system of a Siemens SGT5-2000E turbine. If pumping equipment was also damaged, repairs could take between 2 and 5 months.

The Balaklava TPP is described as a key energy facility on the peninsula. Together with the Tavriiska TPP in Simferopol, it provides about 90% of Crimea's electricity consumption – making them the backbone of local power generation.
