The zebra on the run.
BEWARE of the zebra – and we're not talking about the crossing.
Motorists travelling near King Shaka International Airport were urged to slow down after a runaway zebra was spotted roaming alongside the road in Shortlands on Wednesday morning.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers quite literally earned their stripes as they searched for the striped escapee, whose unexpected appearance turned a stretch of road into an unlikely safari and a potential hazard for both motorists and the animal.
RUSA spokesperson Prem Balram said the unit had received two calls from motorists over the past three days reporting that a zebra had been spotted.
