Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has been accused of being evasive about the R31 million incurred in expenses by the South African delegation to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
DA MP Leah Potgieter said in a statement that McKenzie's disclosure was just an estimate of taxpayer money that was spent.
“These are merely estimates, and the minister's evasiveness about specifics suggests something troubling,” Potgieter said.
She also said the DA had twice requested detailed information from McKenzie about the department’s delegation to the World Cup, including the delegation’s members and the total budget.
