Gelvandale, Gqeberha, gave its favourite son a hero's welcome when Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams returned home weeks after leading SA to its best-ever World Cup performance.
The celebration was held on Monday at Gelvandale Primary School in Gqeberha's northern suburb where the goalkeeper grew up.
Eastern Cape MEC for sport, recreation, arts and culture Sibulele Ngongo attended the event and was welcomed by Nelson Mandela Bay economic development, tourism and agriculture political head Bassie Kamana.
