Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams remained proud of his team after they were dumped out of the FIFA World Cup by co-hosts Canada on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

After the match, a reflective Williams chose his words carefully as he declared that Bafana had learnt invaluable lessons that will leave them in good stead going forward after a torrid start against Mexico, a determined draw against Czechia and an inspired victory over South Korea in the group stages.

“We can leave here with our heads high,” Williams said. “I am proud of the boys — the fight, the effort and the mindset to keep fighting.
