Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams celebrated in Gelvandale following historic World Cup run.
Gelvandale gave its favourite son a hero's welcome on Monday when Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams came home weeks after leading SA to its best-ever World Cup.
The celebration was held at Gelvandale Primary School in Gqeberha's northern suburb where the goalkeeper grew up. The father of two was present at the event.
Eastern Cape MEC for sport, recreation, arts and culture Sibulele Ngongo attended the event and was welcomed by Nelson Mandela Bay economic development, tourism and agriculture political head Bassie Kamana.
Williams, 34, captained Bafana Bafana at the 2026 World Cup in North America, where the side reached the knockout stage for the first time in the country's history.
