Survey says: New York Jets fans still have concerns about the current regime, and the 2026 roster. It’s not all bad, but there’s plenty worth exploring.Over the last week, we surveyed Jets fans to get their thoughts on Aaron Glenn, Darren Mougey, Geno Smith, the future, the present state of the roster and many other topics. More than 2,600 people responded. Some of the biggest takeaways aren’t a major surprise — like fans being more optimistic about Mougey than Glenn — but there is still plenty of intrigue in your answers. Thanks to all who participated.Analyzing 3 standout performers from the Jets' offseason programZack RosenblattOn Thursday, we’ll unveil Part II of this survey, with a focus on the roster, owner Woody Johnson and the future. But first, let’s dive into Glenn, Mougey, some of the decisions they’ve made, and how many games they’ll need to win to survive into 2027.The vibes this offseason have been much better than they were during the lowest moments of the 2025 season. Yet, it is perfectly reasonable to say that Glenn still has a lot to prove as an NFL head coach based on how things went last season. For some fans, Glenn has to rebuild fan trust and confidence from zero. However, I will say the positive vibes and changes made this offseason seem to have him at least in better standing.Fans who participated in the survey are largely neutral on their confidence in Glenn as a head coach, though a decent chunk landed at unconfident. Considering the Jets went 3-14, set various team and league records for futility, and Glenn fired half his staff after a year, “neutral” as the predominant answer should be viewed as a win.The responses to the prompt about what concerned them most about Glenn in his first season were a little harsher, though that’s to be expected. The “write-in” answers were especially unkind — many responders offered a variation of “all of the above” or “everything” as their answer to the question; others pointed to his staff choices and the decision to sign Justin Fields. One respondent did write “he tanked successfully. You can’t win in the NFL without a franchise QB and to draft one, you have to pick early. Winning meaningless games would’ve repeated the Zach Wilson scenario. Anyone who calls for his firing is stupid.”Ultimately, “game management” was far and away the top answer. There is perhaps no better example than when Glenn ran out the clock before halftime in London against the Broncos, and wide receiver Garrett Wilson let him know how disappointed he was on the way into the locker room (and after the game). An added wrinkle this year will be Glenn calling plays on defense while still making the big decisions in other areas. This was the most positive-leaning answer to a question about Glenn. He was hired by the Jets in part because of his work with the Lions defense from 2021-24 — and the Jets' unit certainly can’t be much worse than it was last year with Steve Wilks in charge. The reality is this probably won’t be an elite unit, or close to it, but the Jets' moves this offseason — both in turning play calling over to Glenn and loading up with veterans — should help them avoid being a bottom-five unit. Many of the changes Glenn made to his staff this offseason were built around his decision to pursue and then hire Reich to run his offense. Glenn’s plan to take over the defense was predicated on bringing in an experienced coach to run the offense so he doesn’t have to step in on that side of the ball as often. Reich has years of experience, while Tanner Engstrand was a first-time NFL play caller last year.Fans appear to be neutral-to-positive on Reich’s ability as a play caller in 2026.It is not a surprise that fans perceive Mougey in a much more positive light than Glenn. Though it’s also fair to point out that Mougey and Glenn are partners in their decision-making, and it seems like Glenn shoulders most of the blame for mistakes while Mougey gets the praise when things go right.
