The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said that the evacuation of children from front-line regions is not being carried out systematically enough.
The ombudsman stated this during a TV broadcast, Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Having this law adopted on March 4 of this year, which allows for the forced evacuation of children even when their parents or relatives do not want to do it, unfortunately we see that sometimes the authorities responsible for this simply cannot cope with their work. We have cases when children contact us directly. For example, a 17-year-old boy called our hotline, and we helped evacuate him together with the White Angel NGO. After that, his mother left as well. Now they live together in western Ukraine," he said.
Lubinets noted that he had appealed to the regional military administrations in front-line regions, urging them to prepare for forced evacuation, including by collecting full information about the children living there and the conditions in which they live.
