MANILA, Philippines — The lawyer of the 18 men who claimed they were former “bagmen” of an ex-congressman at the center of the public works corruption scandal said he had received a warrant of arrest in connection with the cyberlibel complaint filed by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Levito Baligod said the June 15 warrant he received was issued by Branch 148 of the Makati Regional Trial Court, where Laurel had sued him for two counts of cyberlibel.

But he said the warrant had his address wrong, which he blamed as the reason why he was unable to receive the court’s earlier subpoena and file a counteraffidavit in the case.
