Contract chipmaker Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (力積電) yesterday said it is hiking DRAM prices by 45 percent this month and expects structural supply shortages to extend into next year.The company is also raising prices of power management chips and display driver chips by 10 to 15 percent, effective this month.The price increases are expected to significantly boost the company’s gross margin next quarter when the chips are delivered to customers, Powerchip said at an online earnings conference.
