SLUMP IN PC DEMAND:
The company began raising prices across its product portfolio this quarter and plans to fully pass on higher component costs to customers next quarter

Global consumer PC demand has declined about 10 percent to 20 percent year-on-year this year, as rising memory and component costs continue to dampen end-market purchases, Micro-Star International Co (MSI, 微星科技) chairman Hsu Hsiang (徐祥) said yesterday, adding that this has especially hit the company’s DIY motherboard business.Facing a slump in the consumer PC market, Micro-Star is to focus on defending its market share, maintaining price levels and sustaining its profitability this year, Hsu said after the company’s annual general meeting in New Taipei City’s Jhonghe District (中和).The company began raising prices across its product portfolio this quarter and plans to fully pass on higher component costs to customers next quarter, Hsu said.
