Ruth Ellis was the last woman sentenced to hang in Britain after being convicted of murdering her lover David Blakely in 1955. Over 70 years later, she has been pardoned by the King. And yet there's no doubt at all that she committed the crime. She didn't pretend not to have done, and she freely admitted it.
