Ten wild boars rescued from farm well near Kottur in Coimbatore, released into forest

Ten wild boars, including four piglets, were rescued after they fell into an open well at a private farm near Kottur in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) on Monday evening.According to the Forest Department, frontline staff on patrol in the Villoni beat under the Kottur section of the Pollachi Forest Range received information around 5 p.m. that a sounder of wild boars had fallen into a well in the farm of Sivaraj at Kottur.Forest personnel rushed to the spot and confirmed that 10 wild boars had fallen into the well. Following instructions from the Deputy Director of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Pollachi, and under the guidance of the Pollachi Forest Range Officer, a rescue operation was carried out by the Kottur section forest staff.The team successfully rescued all 10 animals — six adult wild boars and four piglets — alive from the well.
