Five wild boars were culled in Kizhunna ward of Kannur Corporation on Monday (June 15) as part of the State government’s intensified efforts to tackle the growing wild boar menace.The operation was carried out in Ward 36 (Kizhunna) under the directions of the Corporation authorities and in accordance with the legal provisions governing wild boar control. The drive was conducted under the supervision of Taliparamba Range Forest Officer P.V. Sanoop Krishnan and in the presence of Kannur MLA T.O. Mohanan. Ward Councillor Shruti K.P., along with Public Health Inspectors Shruthi K. and Vineetha M., coordinated the field-level operation.According to forest and civic authorities, the wild boars posed a threat to residents and farmers in the locality. The carcasses were disposed of scientifically in accordance with prescribed guidelines.Corporation authorities said similar drives would be intensified in the coming days.
