A social media post claiming that two scoops of ice cream in Sunny Beach cost 35.50 euros, or 69.43 leva, has sparked widespread debate during the peak of the summer tourist season in Bulgaria, with conflicting accounts emerging over what was actually purchased.

The controversy began after an anonymous post in the Facebook group "Sunny Beach Bulgaria 2026!" alleged that a woman in her 70s and her 7-year-old granddaughter ordered two scoops of ice cream from a stand on the seaside promenade. According to the post, the woman paid by card, believing the amount displayed on the payment terminal was 3.50 euros, only to later realize she had been charged 35.50 euros. The author also claimed the seller reacted aggressively when the payment was questioned.

The post included a photograph of a POS terminal receipt showing a payment of 35.50 euros, equivalent to 69.43 leva. However, it did not include the accompanying fiscal receipt, which would indicate the quantity of ice cream that had been purchased.

On bTV the vendor, Dian Mitev, has rejected the claims circulating online, insisting the payment was not for two scoops or a single serving of ice cream. According to him, the customers bought five separate ice creams, while the social media post showed only one container, creating a misleading impression.
