Senior IDAC investigator Brian Padayachee has dismissed claims that he was part of an alleged network linked to Maj-Gen. Feroz Khan, saying he has never known of any "Khan cabal" operating within either the SAPS or anti-corruption division.
Appearing before the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday, Padayachee firmly denied allegations that he influenced criminal investigations or prosecutions, insisting he had no involvement in any alleged faction accused of manipulating cases.
"I have no knowledge of the existence of a 'Khan-IDAC' cabal in SAPS. I also do not know a 'Khan-IDAC' cabal within the IDAC. It follows that if such a cabal exists, I am not party to it," Padayachee testified.
While distancing himself from the allegations, Padayachee acknowledged that Khan had changed over the years.
He said he had known Khan only as a senior Crime Intelligence officer based at SAPS head office and admitted he had always been cautious in his dealings with him.
