The video, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, appears to show a group of South African holidaymakers, who were reportedly visiting Mozambique legally, involved in a heated exchange with a Mozambican local at what appears to be a seaside restaurant.
A popular Mozambique beach bar has rejected claims that South African tourists were chased out of its establishment by Mozambican citizens, saying a viral video of a confrontation at the venue has been misinterpreted.
Pinto's Beach Bar in Ponta do Ouro issued a statement following the widespread circulation of footage showing a heated exchange between South African holidaymakers and a Mozambican local.
The establishment said the incident, which occurred on July 4, was not motivated by nationality and did not amount to Mozambicans expelling South Africans from the venue, as suggested by some social media posts.
"We wish to make it clear that this interpretation does not reflect the facts witnessed by the management and staff of Pinto's Beach Bar," the bar said.
