The video, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, appears to show a group of South African holidaymakers, who were reportedly visiting Mozambique legally, involved in a heated exchange with a Mozambican local at what appears to be a seaside restaurant.

FOLLOWING a viral video of a confrontation between South African tourists and a Mozambican local, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has urged those experiencing difficulties while travelling to contact consular services.

DIRCO spokesperson Chrispin Phiri said South Africans who encountered serious challenges while outside the country should seek assistance through the country's diplomatic missions.

"Where South Africans face severe difficulties they can call the consulate services for help with their concerns," said Phiri.
