The City of Joburg has committed itself to addressing challenges faced by mourners and communities at the Olifantsvlei and Avalon cemeteries following recent complaints.

The community of Eldorado Park and nearby areas is breathing a sigh of relief as the City of Johannesburg has initiated measures to address ongoing challenges at the Lenasia/Avalon and Olifantsvlei cemeteries.

These efforts come in the wake of mounting criticism regarding inadequate infrastructure and service delivery at these burial sites.

Recent complaints, which were shared on social media, highlighted significant operational difficulties, particularly during weekends when traffic congestion and delays in cremation services have plagued both cemeteries.

In response, the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Development, Thapelo Amad, has taken steps, with a commitment to implementing necessary interventions.
