City of Joburg promises to reopen Thuso House customer service centre after it was closed over R3.4 million debt

The City of Joburg has taken steps to reassure its residents amid growing concerns regarding the temporary closure of the Thuso House Customer Service Centre.

This closure, which has affected access to vital municipal services, follows the Sheriff of the Court’s recent attachment of city assets over unpaid creditors amounting to R3.4 million.

In a move that has raised several alarms, ActionSA’s leader and finance councillor candidate, Mpumi Edward, has demanded full transparency from the city's leadership, attributing the closure of the service centre to a lack of proper financial management.

Edward stated: "It is unacceptable that a critical customer service centre could be brought to a halt because the city has reportedly failed to honour its financial obligations."
