Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has announced the release of Ifechukwu Dennis, the young man accused of cloning the voice of President Bola Tinubu in an AI-generated audio recording.
Sowore disclosed the development on Monday after accompanying human rights lawyer, Prince Wayne Esq. Aluta Icon Chikeze, to court to secure Dennis' release.
Dennis, who was accused of originating an artificial intelligence-generated voice note allegedly impersonating President Tinubu, had spent months in police detention before being remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Announcing his release, Sowore revealed that Dennis has now reunited with his family but stated that the Nigeria Police Force has instituted fresh charges against him at the Federal High Court.
