Specialist crime scene analysts say the undisturbed nature of the Australian outback may finally help them find the body of a British man murdered after being flagged down by a stranger on a desolate highway 25 years ago.

They say the wide expanse of Australia’s Northern Territory, once considered a hinderance in the efforts to recover the remains of Peter Falconio, is now a help, as the still and quiet nature of where he was killed means not much will have changed in the area.

On July 14, 2001, 28-year-old Falconio, from Yorkshire, was travelling with his girlfriend, Joanne Lees, also from the UK, on the remote Stuart Highway, when they were stopped by Bradley Murdoch, a man who, unknown to them, had a violent criminal history.
