Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has backed Kaizer Chiefs target Langelihle Phili to become one of the Betway Premiership’s brightest stars, predicting defenders will “cry” trying to contain the Stellenbosch FC winger.
Mabasa is well placed to make that assessment after spending six months alongside the 21-year-old during his loan spell at Stellenbosch last season.
The pair shared a dressing room as Phili enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that established him as one of the league’s hottest young prospects and attracted interest from several clubs, including Chiefs.
While Phili’s future remains the subject of transfer speculation, Mabasa believes the winger already possesses the qualities needed to become one of the PSL’s standout attacking players.
