After a challenging recovery from a shoulder injury, Stellenbosch University student Joshua Glyn-Cuthbert is set to compete in the Berg River Canoe Marathon, aiming to become the first Matie paddler to win since 2010.
With a perfect record in pre-Berg races, he is one of the top contenders for the title.
And a shoulder injury that required surgery less than a year ago has done little to slow him down.
Glyn-Cuthbert, a 22-year-old fourth-year electrical engineering student, has enjoyed an outstanding build-up to the 64th edition of the race, winning all four pre-Berg qualifying races and establishing himself as one of the most promising young canoeists.
