Two suspects have been arrested following the discovery of human organs in a hijacked vehicle.
Shock and disbelief ripple through the Naledi community in Soweto after JMPD officers arrested two suspects found with a hijacked National Department of Health vehicle and two buckets filled with human hearts and lungs.
JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla said a thorough inspection of the garage revealed a white VW Caddy belonging to the National Department of Health.
“A verification check confirmed that the vehicle had been positively flagged as hijacked and was already in the process of being stripped.
“A further search of the yard led to a highly disturbing discovery: two buckets allegedly containing human organs, identified as hearts and lungs,” Fihla said in a statement.
