AAIIBP chair and CEO Amenah Pangandaman
MANILA, Philippines — Former Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman has been named the chair and chief executive officer of the P2.6-billion state-owned Al-Amanah Islamic Investment Bank of the Philippines (AAIIBP), marking her return to the government months after she resigned from the Cabinet last year.
The country’s only Islamic bank announced Pangandaman’s appointment on July 10 to replace Amilbahar Amilasan Jr., who presided over the bank’s financial improvement to P2.6 billion from P1.16 billion in 2024.
According to the bank’s 2025 financial statements, audited by the Commission on Appointments, Amilasan improved the bank’s assets by P1.5 billion, mainly through investments amounting to more than P1 billion.
