National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) administrator Professor Hlengani Mathebula has denied allegations that he appointed four advisers at a cost of R10 million a year, insisting that he has not received any salary since taking office in May.
National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) administrator Professor Hlengani Mathebula has rejected allegations that he appointed four technical advisers at a cost of about R10 million a year, saying he has not received any remuneration since taking office two months ago.
Mathebula also dismissed claims that public funds had been spent without the approval of Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, maintaining that both his appointment and those of his advisers complied with the NSFAS Act.
"I personally haven't been remunerated," Mathebula said in an interview with the SABC.
"For me, that on its own isn't a big deal because it's only been two months, and you do need to allow the minister to complete the necessary consultations he has to do."
