“Eirene” (Peace), the most optimistic of Aristophanes’ political comedies, is presented in a new adaptation by Nikos Karathanos, in collaboration with Foivos Delivorias and Angelos Triantafyllou as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. Blending music, satire and a message of reconciliation, the production taking place at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus reimagines the ancient comedy as a celebration of resilience and hope. Through its lyrical approach, it highlights the persistence of ordinary people who continue to dream, sing and demand peace even when confronted with the realities of conflict, exhaustion and cynicism.
