The imitation firearm found in Sea Point.
A gun-wielding suspect who was photographed by a member of the public while cocking an imitation firearm in Sea Point has been located via the Sea Point Central Improvement District's (SPCID) CCTV network.
Despite not facing arrest, the SPCID used the photograph on their widespread CCTV camera network in a bid to trace and locate the suspect’s movements.
They quickly located the suspect in Sea Point Main Road, alerted law enforcement officers, and found him to be in possession of an imitation firearm.
"Upon receiving the information, the SPCID Control Room immediately circulated the suspect's photograph to response teams, called in additional resources, and utilised the area's extensive CCTV camera network to track the suspect's movements in real time," said the SPCID.
