This July, Dr Esté Spies celebrates her 40th birthday with a crucial Mandela Day fundraising campaign to provide sterilisation services for vulnerable animals.
Spies, an Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO) veterinarian hopes to raise R67 000 by Saturday, July 18, enough to fund 120 sterilisations.
"Every sterilisation changes lives. It prevents unwanted litters, reduces suffering, and improves the welfare of animals in vulnerable communities," she said.
Spies said ARO has spent the past 40 years creating lasting change through accessible veterinary care, education and sterilisation programmes.
