The Presidency had criticised Atiku for allegedly failing to commend the government and security agencies over the rescue while alleging that he was waiting for bad news to attack the government.

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has launched a fresh attack on President Bola Tinubu's administration, accusing the Presidency of either being "too lazy" to verify facts or "too embarrassed" to acknowledge his earlier statement on the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, the former Vice President dismissed the allegation by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, that he remained silent after the rescue operation.

Atiku described the claim as a "reckless distortion of facts" that collapses under documentary evidence.

According to Atiku, there are only two possible explanations for the Presidency's accusation.
