Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has criticised President Bola Tinubu's administration for distributing food items to families of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State instead of focusing on rescuing the victims from captivity.

Atiku's criticism comes amid growing public outrage over the abduction of pupils and teachers from communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State and increasing concerns about the worsening security situation in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the government's response as insensitive and evidence that it does not take the security crisis seriously.

"The cruelty of such a response is difficult to comprehend," Atiku said.
