Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has attacked President Bola Tinubu over the worsening insecurity in the country, accusing his government of failing to protect citizens from terrorist attacks and mass abductions.

In a statement issued by the Atiku Media Office on Thursday, the ADC presidential candidate demanded the immediate rescue of dozens of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in separate attacks in Borno State and Oyo State earlier this month.

According to the statement, at least 42 students were abducted on May 15 during coordinated attacks on Government Day Secondary School, Mussa; Central Primary School; and SUBEB Secondary School in Mussa town, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The same day, more than 40 students and teachers were reportedly kidnapped from Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele; Primary School, Esiele; and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. One teacher was allegedly beheaded during the attack.
