BAHA: Baha region is home to numerous historic villages with traditional stone houses nestled amid its mountainous landscape, as well as rural lodges that offer visitors unique tourism experiences combining scenic natural surroundings with the region’s rich cultural heritage.
One of the region’s notable rural lodges showcases traditional architecture built with locally sourced stone and timber. It houses more than 450 heritage artifacts, including antique furniture, household items, and old paper currency, providing visitors with a glimpse into the daily life once enjoyed by the people of Baha.
Lodge owner Sharifa Al-Ghamdi told the Saudi Press Agency that she spent nine years restoring and refurbishing several historic homes to preserve their architectural identity and transform them into a tourism destination that highlights the region’s heritage.
The rural lodges reflect Baha’s architectural and cultural legacy, demonstrating the ingenuity of using natural building materials suited to the region’s terrain and climate.
They also play an important role in promoting cultural tourism and preserving historic buildings.
