The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights has commended security agencies for ensuring the safe return of the abducted teachers and pupils in Oyo State.
It described the operation as proof that intelligence-led collaboration can effectively tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes.
The human rights organisation, however, urged the Federal Government to build on the success by launching a sustained nationwide offensive against kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, and violent extremism.
The CDHR disclosed this in a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Yinka Folarin, and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Adewunmi Adesina, and made available to journalists on Saturday.
According to the group, while the rescue has brought relief to the victims’ families, it also highlights the need for sustained commitment by governments, security agencies and communities to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
