Civil society organisations have welcomed the arrest of two suspects in the murder of Mahikeng crime activist and traditional healer Thato Molosankwe, while calling on police to ensure everyone involved in the killing is brought to justice.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) announced on Saturday that two men, aged 28 and 38, have been arrested in connection with Molosankwe's murder. The suspects are expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court on Monday.
General Industries Workers Union of South Africa (GIWUSA) President Mametlwe Sebei welcomed the arrests, saying they represented an important step towards justice, but warned that the investigation should not end there.
"The perpetrators of this heinous crime must face the full might of the law," Sebei said. He called on the National Prosecuting Authority to ensure the prosecution is "thorough, transparent, and without delay".
