Greek firefighters are helping battle blazes in southern France as part of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism’s Pre-positioning Program.
The Hellenic GFFF-V Module has taken part continuously in operations against forest and mixed rural-forest fires since the first day of its deployment. The mission includes 21 firefighters from the Special Forest Operations Units, who have already responded to successive fire fronts. Since July 7, they have been participating in efforts to contain a major forest fire in the Carlencas-et-Levas area under demanding conditions.
The Fire Service said its personnel demonstrate European solidarity and mutual assistance in responding to natural disasters across borders.
