Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, discussed with Athanasios Bouras, Vice President of the Greek Parliament and Chair of the Special Standing Committee on Institutions and Transparency, and Andreas Pottakis, the Greek Ombudsman, support for more than 40,000 Ukrainians currently residing in Greece.

The Ombudsman wrote about this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“I met with Athanasios Bouras, Vice President of the Greek Parliament and Chair of the Special Standing Committee on Institutions and Transparency. Greek Ombudsman Andreas Pottakis also joined the meeting,” he noted.

Lubinets expressed gratitude to Greece for its unwavering support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. According to him, the meeting focused on the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening cooperation between states, as well as joint steps to protect human rights in the context of war.

“Special attention was paid to ensuring the rights of the Greek national community in Ukraine and supporting the more than 40,000 Ukrainians currently residing in Greece. We also agreed to strengthen cooperation between ombudsman institutions to more effectively protect the rights of Ukrainians in Greece, exchange experiences, and jointly respond to challenges caused by Russian aggression,” the ombudsman wrote.
