Russian occupation authorities are refusing to evacuate children from the frontline town of Kreminna in Ukraine's Luhansk region, instead using them as "human shields".

According to Ukrinform, Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Oleksii Kharchenko reported this on Telegram.

"The occupation authorities in Kreminna are refusing to evacuate children from the frontline town. This concerns not only evacuation but also summer recreation programs. Around 1,000 boys and girls who remain in the district are being used by the occupiers as 'human shields' to cover the criminal actions of Russian forces," Kharchenko wrote.

At the same time, Kharchenko said that labor shortages in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) have become even more severe. According to him, the occupation authorities have been unable to address the staffing crisis despite Russian financial incentive programs and other benefits.

As part of an All-Russian Employment Fair held in the temporarily occupied areas of the Luhansk region, only 46 people applied for 3,850 job vacancies – just over 1% of the available positions.
