Rescue workers extinguished a fire in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. Forest litter and fallen trees were burning there.

The State Emergency Service reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

As noted, for two weeks, SES specialists, together with other services, worked continuously to contain the fire. Thanks to their coordinated and professional efforts, they managed to prevent the fire from spreading over large areas.

“The situation was under complete control at all times. According to the results of regular measurements, background radiation levels remained within natural ranges throughout the entire period and did not exceed permissible limits,” the agency reported.
