Messi has already been named to the 2026 MLS All-Star roster, where the league’s best will face Liga MX All-Stars. Argentina, the defending World Cup champions, are reportedly set to face Switzerland in the quarterfinals as of early July 2026.
Messi has a track record of missing All-Star commitments. He sat out the 2024 edition due to injury and skipped the 2025 game without an injury designation, which earned him a suspension from MLS.
