The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is set for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey. The MLS All-Star Game lands ten days later, on July 29, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Lionel Messi is currently expected at both.

Messi has already been named to the 2026 MLS All-Star roster, where the league’s best will face Liga MX All-Stars. Argentina, the defending World Cup champions, are reportedly set to face Switzerland in the quarterfinals as of early July 2026.

Messi has a track record of missing All-Star commitments. He sat out the 2024 edition due to injury and skipped the 2025 game without an injury designation, which earned him a suspension from MLS.

Why crypto investors are watching Messi’s schedule

In 2021, when Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain, part of his signing package was denominated in $PSG fan tokens. He also inked a promotional deal with Socios.com, the platform behind most major sports fan tokens, reportedly worth more than $20 million. That deal effectively made him the face of an entire asset class.
