After a week-long disagreement over fish, the tension was still mounting for two rival contestants on Channel 4's Come Dine With Me17:52, 10 Jul 2026Tensions were still brewing during the latest instalment of Channel 4's Come Dine With Me after a contestant failed to mince her words. It was the final episode of the week on Friday (July 10) where Bernadette, Garry, Lydia, Saoirse and Lauren had one more three course meal before deciding who would win £1,000 and be crowned the winner of the week.In the episode, which previously aired last year, it was Bernadette's turn to host her dinner party. Bernadette, who works as a fish van operator, was keen to show off her seafood knowledge, following a fiery row she had with contestant Lauren earlier in the week.During the dinner party week, which was based in Glasgow, tensions continued to flare as it was dominated by the ongoing "seabassgate" dispute, a heated argument between Bernadette, the fishmonger, and Lauren, the first night's host, about whether "sea bass steaks" are a real thing. The disagreement carried on throughout the week and repeatedly overshadowed the other dinner parties, so much so that the other contestants were forced to step in when things got too heated at the table.Although things were slightly calmer on Friday's episode, Lauren was still keen to share her thoughts and disdain regarding Bernadette's cooking skills. While tucking into her chicken liver pate starter, Lauren was keen to point out that it wasn't something she would go for. Later on, she then spoke directly to the camera and said: "It was like a cat food, sort of left out for a couple of days and the cat had died."When it came to the main course, which was hake, Lauren didn't like this either and described the fish as dry. During her private moment, Bernadette told viewers at home: "I think she's trying to insult me."But despite the digs between the pair, near the end of the evening, the two women decided to bury the hatchet, and they finally settled their differences.Article continues belowWelcoming the change of atmosphere, Bernadette said she was "touched" by Lauren's wholesome approach.Although things had calmed down between the pair, they both failed to make a good enough impression on their guests as neither of them won the top prize.Come Dine With Me airs weekdays at 6:30pm on Channel 4.
