EXCLUSIVE: A celebrity quizzer on ITV The Chase has addressed one common misconception from fans.14:47, 10 Jul 2026The Chase star Anne Hegerty has revealed a common misconception about her outfit on the show.‌The celebrity quizzer, perhaps better known as The Governess, is joining her co-stars and host Bradley Walsh in a new spin-off series, The Chase Around The World.‌The six-part special will see six teams of two working to win £100,000 as they take on ITV ’s beloved quizshow around Europe.‌Starting in Rome, the players must solve quiz questions, puzzles and cryptic clues to navigate their way across the city and find Bradley at the finish line, with their route taking them to some of the city’s iconic landmarks like the Colosseum and the Trevi fountain.The team that finishes last is then forced to face a head-to-head with two Chasers in each city, and need to beat them to fight for their place in the competition.‌Ahead of the series airing, The Mirror spoke to Chasers Anne and Shaun Wallace, known as The Dark Destroyer, with the pair opening up about being recognised across the world as they were filming.Sean revealed: “When Paul and I did it, there was a stag party there in Lisbon, when they recognised us, they went nuts.“I will always stop and take photographs with people who recognise us because it’s my way of saying thank you to the public, and they love the show and it’s our way of giving back.‌“As long as they’re not rude or intrusive, we’ll stop. And they happened to be on a stag night, so we took the pictures, but the one thing we said to them was, ‘Don’t post it until July because obviously we don’t want to give our location away’.”Anne recalled a similar incident where she and Mark were spotted by fans while filming in Rome, joking they were left “hiding behind newspapers”.‌She went on: “It happened in the Alps too, where everyone’s like ‘Woah, it’s The Chasers,’ and I’m like, ‘The fact that we’re in costume indicates that we’re actually filming so go away’.”She went on to clarify that she didn’t actually own her Governess outfit, despite what people may think.Anne said: “Sometimes when we’re in costume, people don’t realise we’re working because people think I own that suit.‌“I mean, trust me, if I owned that suit it would have a terrible accident.”Elsewhere, host Bradley teased the new series, saying: “I would describe it as The Chase... but around the world! It’s out and about. It was very different doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I’ve been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years!‌“The locations were unbelievable. I loved it, I really did, but then again, I wasn’t chasing around, literally chasing around, the cities we were in.”Recalling one particularly emotional moment as the competition amped up, he went on: “In one city the couple that came in last were devastated, and I mean devastated. One of them couldn’t even bring themselves to look at me. They were so upset.‌“But then they get the chance to play against The Chasers and they went and beat them! So they stayed in the contest and were able to play in the next round at the next city - it was brilliant to see! I mean, it was really great.“All of a sudden you’re saying, ‘All right, well forget that now. You’re now moving onto the next city. You’re still in the race.’“It was great to watch because their despair turned into such joy.
