A 61-year-old man was stabbed while out for a run on Table Mountain.

Authorities have urged outdoor enthusiasts to be extra vigilant after a runner was stabbed in an attempted robbery on Table Mountain.

The incident involving a 61-year-old runner has sparked renewed safety concerns on one of Cape Town's most iconic landmarks.

The attack occurred between 7:15am and 7:30am in the Deadman's Tree area above Deer Park, on Wednesday 9 July.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Frederich van Wyk said the victim told police he was approached by three unidentified men while out on his morning run.
