Suspended City of Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi is expected to return to work after council meeting reviewed his case ‘less serious’.

Suspended City of Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi could return to work after councillors resolved that misconduct allegations against him should be classified as "less serious", despite claims linking him to leaked confidential tender documents and an alleged tender-rigging scheme.

Mnisi was suspended earlier this year after evidence presented before the Madlanga Commission alleged that he shared confidential tender information with friends and may have been involved in manipulating procurement processes.

He is accused of using his position and chairperson of the City’s Bid Adjudication Committee (BAC) to influence the multi-billion-rand security contract in favour of his preferred bidders.

A forensic investigation commissioned by the municipality reportedly found no evidence of wrongdoing.
