The Bahá'í International Community has documented ongoing detentions and judicial proceedings affecting Bahá'í individuals across multiple locations in Iran, including Kerman, Mashhad, and Yazd, as well as a renewed summons for twenty-six Bahá'ís in Shiraz nearly a decade after their arrests.
On 4 July 2026, it was learned that Ms. Shakila Ghasemi, a 26-year-old Bahá'í resident of Kerman, remains in detention more than five months after her arrest, with authorities yet to disclose any charges. She was arrested on 2 February 2026 following a raid on her home and held in solitary confinement for approximately 100 days before transfer to the general ward of Kerman Prison. Neither her family nor legal representatives have been informed of any charges, court proceedings, or hearing dates. Repeated bail requests have been rejected.
On 5 July 2026, it was learned that Mr. Navid Zarrehbin Irani, a Bahá'í photographer from Mashhad, remains detained in Vakilabad Prison more than five and a half months after his arrest. Despite 168 days in custody and a final investigative hearing on 1 July 2026, no information has been provided regarding judicial proceedings. His detention order has been renewed monthly, with authorities citing that the Ministry of Intelligence has not submitted its final report. He is held in a ward for political prisoners without a conviction. He was arrested on 16 January 2026 at his home in the presence of his teenage child. No charges have been disclosed.
