Based on available confirmed information as of 03 July 2026, the BIC has been able to verify a total of 55 Bahá’í individuals being currently detained or imprisoned, solely for their beliefs, in multiple locations across Iran. Of these, 29 are women and 26 are men. In addition to the 55 physically incarcerated there are more than 17 others currently serving sentences outside prison with electronic monitoring ankle bands.

On 1 July 2026, it was learned that Mr. Pejman Zare, a Bahá’í from Shiraz, has been held in Adelabad Prison for 109 days without judicial resolution. His health is deteriorating due to denied medical care, interrupted treatment for a hereditary condition, and untreated kidney stones, exacerbated by poor prison conditions. His physician has warned of serious risks, yet he has not received specialist care. Arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents at his home on 15 March 2026, he was transferred to Adelabad after interrogation. He has been denied legal counsel, and no charges or reasons for his arrest have been disclosed.

On 30 June 2026, it was learned that Mr. Behzad Yazdani, a Bahá’í from Shiraz, has been detained for 95 days without charge in Adelabad Prison’s quarantine ward. His wife, Mrs. Romina Khazali, was released on bail of 3 billion tomans on 21 June 2026. Despite repeated follow-ups, no progress has been made in Mr. Yazdani’s case, and authorities have not responded regarding its status. No judicial extension has been formally communicated to his family or lawyer. He has developed health issues in custody but has not received adequate medical care. The reasons for both arrests and any charges remain undisclosed.
