According to images obtained by IranWire, the 40-day memorial service (Chehelom) for Mojtaba Veisi and Meysam Veisi, two Kurdish cultural activists and brothers from Kermanshah, was held on Thursday, July 9, at their family residence in the Dareh-Derizh neighborhood.

The two brothers were shot and killed by IRGC Intelligence forces on May 28 in the village of Qal’eh-Kohoush, Kermanshah. Concurrently, informed sources reported the arrest of two of their relatives by security forces.

According to informed sources, the family was able to install the brothers’ tombstones yesterday, 39 days after their deaths. Engraved on the tombstones is the slogan: “Resistance is life; uprising is life.” This phrase appeared frequently in the personal writings left behind by Mojtaba Veisi.

Sources told IranWire that, on the evening of Wednesday, July 8, just one night before the scheduled memorial, Foroud Veisi, the brother of Mojtaba and Meysam, and Farhad Ghafouri, their cousin, were arrested by security forces for unknown reasons and transferred to an undisclosed location.
