FA'ATUATUA i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) candidate Tuia Fuatogi Letoa has taken a lead in the preliminary count for the Safata No. 2 by-election held on Friday.
Based on preliminary results released by the Office of the Electoral Commission from seven polling booths, Tuia secured 820 votes, ahead of independent candidate Leleua Suataga Aso on 551 votes, while fellow independent Toleafoa Losalia Sagalala Niumata received 106 votes.
Tuia recorded the most votes in several polling stations, including Vaiee E.F.K.S, where he won 259 votes; Fusi Metotisi, with 200 votes; and Mulivai Katoliko, with 131 votes.
Leleua's strongest support came from Nu'usuatia Metotisi, where he polled 207 votes, followed by Tafitoala E.F.K.Swith 144 votes.
Toleafoa's best result came from Fausaga E.F.K.S, where she received 56 votes.
