Taioaliiseu Fiti Aimaasu told the Electoral Court that his decision to join the Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party was a difficult one, but this was what the majority of his constituents wanted.

Taioaliiseu took the stand in the Vaimauga No.3 counter petition filed by Lautimuia Uelese Vaai before Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma and Justice Loau Donald Kerslake.

After reading his affidavit, Lautimuia’s lawyer Leiataualesa Komisi Koria put to Taioaliiseu that he switched parties for his personal gain.

Taioaliiseu denied this. He said he was listening to the majority of the people in his constituency.

He was asked to explain why he had only visited one village in the first five months and then nine different villages within a span of one and a half months. He was also asked if it was correct that the customary gifts of money he gave to these villages were to entice them to vote for him.
